Thank You, Day of Caring Volunteers!

On Friday, September 19th, 66 volunteers representing the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, AT&T, Aerojet Rocketdyne, US Bank, Homestreet Bank, and Darigold trekked out to three YWCA locations to help volunteer for the United Way of King County Day of Caring.

Day of Caring is the largest, one-day mobilization of volunteers in King County, where volunteers from all over the region US Bank DoC 2014dedicate significant amounts of time to local, non-profit organizations.

This year, volunteers at our E. Cherry, Seneca, and Family Village Redmond locations helped with the following:

  • cleaning out the Food Bank
  • painting a mural wall
  • staining a new fence and updating garden patches
  • sorting, steaming, and organizing clothing donations
  • going door-to-door in downtown Seattle asking local businesses for donations

All of these projects made a huge difference in our organization by helping us create wonderful spaces for our clients to enjoy and by assisting staff in preparing merchandise for major events, which bring much-needed funding to the YWCA.

In total, our 66 Day of Caring volunteers donated 230 hours to the YWCA!

A huge thanks to everyone, volunteers and staff, who participated in this year’s Day of Caring!
